When i listen to this song i always picture Kelly and some guy fighting and as soon as the song starts everything starts to rewind and when she says "can we go back to the way we used to be" it should stop at the good moments her and the guy had as a couple until it eventually gets back to the point where they first met. Then by the end of the song it fast forwards back to the present and shows Kelly walking away, but then the guy stops her and kisses her and they forget about the fight and are happy again.
